SkyCity partners with service providers for Gambling Harm Awareness Week

This week, from September 2-8, is Gambling Harm Awareness Week at SkyCity and public health providers have been welcomed onto the SkyCity Auckland and SkyCity Hamilton casino floors to provide information and support to our customers.

Gambling Harm Awareness Week is an annual initiative to raise awareness of potential harms and provide positive ways for people to help those they are concerned about.

SkyCity has welcomed the opportunity to host within the casino environs treatment services, their counsellors and health promoters. After 2018’s first campaign involving the SkyCity Auckland casino, SkyCity Hamilton has also taken part this year with an information desk inside the casino.

Over this week, various providers of problem gambling support services are stationed at an information desk within the casinos and are readily available to give information and advice or take bookings from any interested person. The information desk is open from four to nine hours each day and will operate over the week.

The groups involved include Te Kohao Health, Tupu, Asian Family Services, Hapai te Hauora, Salvation Army Oasis, PGF Services , South Seas Healthcare, and Raukura Hauora o Tainui.

SkyCity provides self-exclusion options between 3-24 months from all its casinos and can facilitate multi-venue exclusion applications at the same time for anyone wishing to prevent further opportunities to gamble outside of their casinos. SkyCity can also discuss the option of an imposed exclusion for whanau or others of concern.

If you are concerned about your own gambling, or that of whanau or friends, please get in contact with SkyCity’s host responsibility team on 0800 SKYCITY or by email, or see our website for a list of service providers and contacts.
