SKYCITY Hamilton’s new bowling, food and entertainment hub opens

Bowl and Social, SKYCITY Hamilton’s new and improved bowling, food and entertainment hub has now opened, boasting world-class bowling technology and equipment, a high quality food and beverage offering, and specialist group bowling facilities.

The opening follows an extensive make over of what was previously known as the Bowlevard – one of Hamilton’s most popular entertainment experiences and Waikato’s only tenpin bowling facility.

SKYCITY Hamilton General Manager Michelle Baillie says the team is very excited about the new facilities.

“Bowl and Social is an incredible new facility that will completely transform the traditional bowling experience. Amongst other things, the new technology on offer allows our customers to compete multi-player while enjoying an exciting audio visual experience.  This is new territory for us in delivering an entertainment offering never seen in Hamilton.”

Bowl and Social will be the first bowling arena in New Zealand to offer what’s known as Mad Games - new bowling technology that involves knocking down bowling pins to meet special targets set out on the interactive screens above bowling lanes.  Overseas, the technology is popular amongst children, families and large groups wishing to compete with each other on a different scale.

Ms Baillie says Bowl and Social also boasts a modernised food and beverage space, with a beautiful balcony area that showcases some of the city’s best views of the Waikato River. 

“Local produce will be used to create authentic pizzas, salads and burgers, and Good George and Lion Breweries are on board as key beverage suppliers, so customers get a true sense of the quality food and beverage our Waikato region is famous for,” says Ms Baillie.

For the design and fit out of Bowl and Social, SKYCITY teamed up with Kiwi design company ctrl-Space and Hawkins construction, as well as internationally-renowned provider of world-class bowling equipment and technology, QubicaAMF.

“We have had highly experienced professionals working on creating an excellent experience for our customers, and now the SKYCITY Hamilton team is really excited about showcasing Bowl and Social to our customers.  Along with our City Co-Op food and beverage precinct and our world-class casino facilities, SKYCITY Hamilton really is living up to its name as the region’s premier entertainment destination,” says Ms Baillie.
