SkyCity Entertainment Group raises funds for Australia Bushfires
To acknowledge and support the devastating bushfires that swept Australia, SkyCity Entertainment Group hosted fundraising activities across its Auckland, Adelaide and Hamilton sites, raising over $55,000 for the South Australia Country Fire Service (CFS) Foundation.
Through Adelaide Casino, SkyCity is a member of the tourism community in South Australia and as such, chose to support the South Australian CFS who have done a terrific job in the Adelaide Hills and on Kangaroo Island.
On Sunday 26 January (Australia Day), the Auckland Sky Tower was lit green and gold to stand in solidarity with the cities, communities, wildlife and firefighters affected by the fires. All proceeds generated from Sky Tower admissions on that day were put towards the donation.
In line with the opening of the new bar, café and restaurant The Guardsman in Adelaide, all revenue generated from coffee orders for the first two weeks of business were also donated to the CFS foundation.
In Hamilton, a ‘Cycle and Sizzle’ fundraiser raised over $5,800. With over 800 sausages and 600 raffle tickets sold, three SkyCity employees cycled up to 8 hours each on the exercise bike.
