SKYCITY Auckland celebrates 20 years with summer festival

It’ll be a 20th birthday like no other: A street festival with a stellar line up of Kiwi artists, mouth-watering food, cool drinks and fun family activities spread over two days.

Next weekend, 22-23 January, SKYCITY Auckland invites locals, visitors, family and friends to Federal Street for a free, two day summer festival to celebrate its 20th birthday.

John Mortensen, SKYCITY Auckland General Manager, is excited to celebrate 20 years of entertainment by hosting a street party for all of Auckland.

“For nearly 20 years SKYCITY Auckland has been an entertainment destination for locals and visitors alike, and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than with our largest festival to date,” says Mr Mortensen.

Federal Street will transform into a pedestrian only area to make way for a festival line up that many would pay for. Kiwi music greats P Money, Diggy & Laughton and Weird Together Soundsystem are headlining the festival, supported by further DJs and artists.

The finest street food and refreshments will be available for purchase with pop ups of SKYCITY Auckland’s popular outlets offering multiple dishes. There will be something for everyone – even the kids! Pop up restaurants include Bellota, Federal Delicatessen, Gusto at the Grand, The Grill by Sean Connolly, MASU, Andy’s Burgers and Bar, Rebo, The Kitchen C/O SKYCITY and Jade Dragon.

It’s a festival for the whole family, with balloon artists, face painters, bubble performers and cupcake decorating on Saturday from 2pm. Players from the SKYCITY Breakers, SKYCITY Mystics, Blues and Vodafone Warriors will also be on site on Saturday, with autograph sessions available.

The festival will be open on Friday 22 January, 4pm – 10pm, and Saturday 23 January, 2pm – 10pm.
