Lighting up our Sky Tower

The Sky Tower holds a special place in the hearts of not just Aucklanders but all New Zealanders.

SKYCITY lights the Sky Tower for charities we support, such as World Vision.

From 10-12 June the Sky Tower was bathed in orange to support the thousands of Kiwis around New Zealand taking part in the World Vision 40 Hour Famine.

We also light to mark national holidays, events or milestones and on 17-19 June the Sky Tower was bathed in yellow and orange light like a sunrise to mark the opening weekend of Auckland's Matariki Festival.

SKYCITY also considers lighting the Tower when Kiwis call for a symbol of solidarity.

On 13-14 June the Sky Tower glowed in rainbow colours to honour those lost in the Orlando massacre, and to stand united with communities around the world calling for love, not hate.

The Sky Tower was lit on the 4th of July to celebrate American Independence Day and will be lit again on the weekend of the 9th and 10th of July to mark the 30th anniversary of the passing of the Homosexual Law Reform Act.
