A helping hand for Northland

Matariki heralds new beginnings - so it’s fitting that the He Korawai Trust today proudly launched four very unique community projects in Northland, with the proud support of SKYCITY Auckland.

SKYCITY Auckland has helped furnish the Trust’s 35-bed crisis accommodation unit by gifting enough beds, tables, televisions, couches, TV units, drawers, chairs and sofas to fill two entire floors of SKYCITY Auckland’s Grand Hotel.

The accommodation unit will provide both essential care and vital wraparound support for up to 90 days.

SKYCITY has also donated a stereo system for use in Project Puna Reo - an early childhood centre dedicated to growing the potential of next generation Maori leaders.

He Korowai Trust is also running Project Whare Ora – the relocation of nine homes from Auckland to Kaitaia. The recycled homes have been fully redecorated and are now ready to provide affordable home-ownership to 17 adults and 43 tamariki.

And Project He Korowai is a social and economic innovation hub, committed to growing and supporting whanau, including start-up businesses, innovators and entrepreneurs.
