Icing on the cake for Southern Stampede

Queenstown’s premier sporting team has won itself a new supporter.

After winning a third national championship in 10 years, the New Zealand Ice Hockey League’s Southern Stampede is teaming up with SKYCITY Queenstown.

Jono Browne, General Manager SKYCITY Queenstown is delighted.

“Ice hockey is a hugely entertaining spectacle and as Queenstown’s number one entertainment destination, SKYCITY is proud to be supporting our local team."

“We look forward to a successful and long partnership, and we will be behind them every step of the way as they look to achieve back to back championship wins,” he says.

The multi-national SKYCITY Stampede have been national champions in 2005, 2006 and 2015 and runner up three times.

“The team is excited to have a heavy hitter like SKYCITY Queenstown on board and it helps ensure the development of our domestic players and attract quality import players,” says Niel Frear, SKYCITY Southern Stampede team manager.

Frear says it will also help the development of youth players.
