Firefighter climb raises NZ$1.1 million

What an achievement!

With one Sky Tower, 1,103 steps, 850 firefighters and a huge team of volunteers, more than $1.16 million was raised for SKYCITY’s charity partner Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand (LBC).

On Saturday 28 May, the twelfth Firefighter Sky Tower Stair Challenge took place, raising its highest-ever total.

A huge thank you to the various teams across SKYCITY who came together to make this event so fantastic!

Three members of the SKYCITY senior management team, Rob Hamilton, Peter Treacy and Sifa Taumoepeau took part in the climb as part of a special group of non-firefighters.

They all made great times, and Rob achieved the best non-firefighter time, just two minutes behind the fastest climber.

LBC is the national charity dedicated to supporting patients and their families living with blood cancers and related blood conditions and the money raised from this event helps LBC continue the great work they do.
