Top chefs raise $200,000 to fight blood cancer

Amazing things can happen when you get thirteen world-class chefs crowded into one kitchen.

Handpicked by our own Peter Gordon, chefs from as far afield as Argentina raised $200,000 in support of Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand, in the sixth SKYCITY Dining for a Difference.

I am thrilled to have had so many talented chefs come together in one kitchen, who so generously gave their time with one main goal in mind – to help fight blood cancer.

300 lucky guests were served up a diverse range of exotic dishes, including preserved octopus with smoked pigs blood and octopus crackling, smoked bone marrow with stinging nettle and a dessert of goat milk sorbet.

SKYCITY Dining for a Difference is the brainchild of Peter Gordon, who helped save the life of his sister Tracey in 1995 by donating bone marrow to her.

The Kiwi chef praised his colleagues for donating their time to the cause.

“I am thrilled to have had so many talented chefs come together in one kitchen, who so generously gave their time with one main goal in mind – to help fight blood cancer,” says Peter Gordon.

In 11 years, SKYCITY has helped raise more than $6.8 million for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer New Zealand through SKYCITY Dining for a Difference, the Firefighter Sky Tower Stair Climb and the Step Up Sky Tower Challenge.
